Secure keys locksmiths pride themselves on being able to offer a fully hands on locksmith workshop /course instructed by one of our own fully qualified instructors here at our purpose built training centre in Ballymena
The course gives you a good insight into the basics of locksmithing and on completion you will achieve an award of recognition on the workshop content completed, along with a tool list and information to support you on the job.

- Module 1: Health & safety, lock identification, Understanding how locks work (yale type lock),Non-destructive Yale type lock entry methods and bypassing, Non-destructive entry to screw in cylinders (aluminium doors)Different types of pin locks ( information), Wide range of tension tools, Applications and entry methods of wafer locks, Hand picks and electric picks for pin locks, Padlock shim picking.
. - Module 2: cylinders identification and destructive entry (drilling, snapping picking & bumping).Lock breaking / snapping, specialist tools and techniques, cam turners, security upgrades, broken key extraction and glued locks information, Lock puller technique (euro and oval cylinder)Hand picks and electric picks for pin locks.
- Module 3: uPVC door mechanisms and common faults, Opening of failed multi-point door locks (Information/demonstration) uPVC door and window tools opening, Key cutting practice, Toeing and healing, How to measure cylinders and replace, How to measure up handle fitment/replacement, how to use the letterbox tool.
- Module 4: Mortice lock identification 2,3 & 5 lever, Methods of opening mortice locks (2,3 & 5 lever) ,Practical introduction to different types of mortice locks, Hands on drilling using simple tools and handy techniques, Non-destructive picking techniques, Picking tools and practical on BS mortice locks, Dismantling / re-assembling of british standard mortice locks, Keying alike mortice locks.
- Module 5: Business start up advice, insurances, start up tools and stock advice
